During an avalanche awareness course in the Lionhead Area near West Yellowstone, participants found a strong and stable snowpack while doing stability tests. Cohesive blocks nearly five feet long were removed from the snowpit intact. This is a good indication the snowpack on this particular slope lacks persistent weak layers. Photo GNFAC
